Parents have a duty to teach their children the important value of respect. Children that are taught the fundamental values of respect and kindness, are usually well behaved. The notion of discipline and boundaries is not novel to them and as such they are able to function properly in a school environment. Kids need rules, they are better able to function when they have guidelines. Our duty is to provide them with the right guidelines. We cannot expect children to know or learn things on their own. We need to be good role models and we need to teach kids courteous behaviour, to teach them school etiquette. Kids will act according to what they saw and according to what they learned or did not learn.
