]]>One of the most embarrassing things that can happen to a parent is when his child contradicts him in public.
For example; the parent says to the other adult “I am sorry I was not able to attend your BBQ but I was away last weekend” the young child says “No Mommy you forgot we went to Amanda’s pool party”.
This is bad etiquette and should not be tolerated. Kids manners matter. Children must be taught to never contradict you. Children learn by example. Children observe the adults around them, you should always strive to tell the truth, but in the event a little white lie is needed (it should not be a habit) you must explain to your child the importance of not getting involved in an adult conversation.
To avoid such incidents kids should be taught very young to never contradict any adults (not only their parents) while they are having a conversation. A parent should explain patiently that it is not a nice thing and why.
A parent must repeat this to the child over and over until this behavior is no longer an issue. If the behavior is not corrected at an early age, this will be a recurring problem and even more embarrassing with older kids contradicting you.

The famous expression, “love at first sight” is as old as we can remember. But is it real?
It is, if your definition of love is, “lust and physical attraction”.
“I walked into the plane and there she was, sitting in row 3 next to the window. The girl of my dreams- I fell madly in love at first sight.”
That is what he told me on our first date. I could not believe he was talking about an old love (or so I believed), on our first date. He continued and explained he was 20 years old at the time and the long distance between him and the girl of his dreams made having a relationship impossible. I thought to myself, is it the long distance or your convoluted understanding of what love is. Today he (my blind date) was almost 45 and still talking about that lost love. But was it love?
“Love at first sight!”
Love her face at first sight
Love her hair at first sight
Love her figure at first sight
Love her blue dress at first sight
Love her sandals at first sight
Love her pearl necklace at first sight
That is the extent of what you can love at first sight.
Did he know her character? Did he know her personality? Did he know her favorite color, food, book, movie, month, souvenir or vacation? Did he know what makes her smile, makes her cry, and makes her angry? Did he know her talents, her potential and her weaknesses?
Did he know her essence, her spirit and her soul? Did he know what makes her who she is, where she is from and where she is going, her dreams and her regrets?
My friends! To know all that takes time, patience and love.
Something that “love at first sight” does not provide.
